"ঝাড়গ্রামে মাওবাদী নেই। মাওবাদীদের নামে গুজব ছড়ানো হচ্ছে"। ঝাড়গ্রামে প্রশাসনিক সভায় বললেন রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। কিছুদিন আগেই মাওবাদী পোস্টারে ছেয়ে যায় ঝাড়গ্রামের বিভিন্ন এলাকা। যে পোস্টারে দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত তৃণমূল নেতাদের নাম উল্লেখ করা হয়। কোন নেতা কোন প্রকল্পে কি ধরণের দুর্নীতি করেছেন তাঁর বিস্তারিত বিবরণ ছিল সে সব পোস্টারে। আতঙ্ক ছড়ায় সাধারণ মানুষদের মধ্যে। সন্ধ্যা ৬টার পর শুনশান হয়ে যায় রাস্তা বাজার বসতি। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, যাঁরা গুজব ছড়াচ্ছেন তাঁদের বিরুদ্ধে কিছু ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে আরও কিছু ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে। যে মাওবাদীদের হাত ধরে মমতার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হওয়া সেই অঞ্চলে এখন মাওবাদী নেই। দুর্নীতি আছে আর সেই দুর্নীতির সঙ্গে যুক্ত তৃণমূলের জেলা পরিষদের নেতারাই। এই বৈঠক থেকেই নিজের জেলার নেতাদের হুমকি দিতেও শোনা যায়। "কত খাবেন আপনারা? সোনার চচ্চরি, হীরের শুক্তো এত দিতে পারব না" ২০১১-র আগে মাওবাদী নেতা কিষেণজি তৎকালীন বিরোধী নেত্রীকে রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিসেবে দেখতে চেয়েছিলেন। তখন আরেক মাওবাদী নেতা ছত্রধর মাহাত ছিলেন ঝাড়গ্রামে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের পথপ্রদর্শক। আর এখন স্থানীয় মানুষ বলছেন, আসলে সর্ষের মধ্যেই লুকিয়ে আছে মাওবাদী ভূত।
